LDA pays highest basic price in Belgium again in May

June 10, 2022 - Klaas van der Horst

Coöperatie Laiterie des Ardennes has increased the milk price for May by €2,00 per 100 litres, reaching the highest base level for this month. For real components, the price is comparable to that of Milcobel.

Both cooperatives pay out €54,70 per hundred litres, based on real Belgian contents and an annual delivery of 1,3 million litres. This is evident from the Belgian Milk Price Comparator van Boerenbusiness. For legal Belgian contents, Milcobel pays out 50 cents less: €51,50 compared to €52,00 at LDA.

Competitor A-ware follows at some distance with a price at real contents of €54,03. FrieslandCampina and Arla follow at a slightly further distance.

The improvement in the milk price at real contents at Micobel has two different causes. Milcobel paid out considerably more due to better commercial results, but the company also adjusted the delivery conditions, which in May mainly had an effect on the maximum sustainability premium that can be achieved.

Three companies have now announced the milk price for June: Arla, A-ware and FrieslandCampina. All three have implemented a further significant increase in their milk prices.
