The average milk price paid in the Netherlands rose by €3,54 per 100 kilos in May. In April, the milk price still rose by an average of €1,89 per 100 kilos. Last month, for the first time, the bare milk price was well above the €50 average. The maximum milk price exceeded €55.
The highest basic milk price was paid by Vreugdenhil. At €56,29, it was more than €5 higher than the average of the other prices.
The meadow milk price rose more strongly in May than the basic milk price, by an average of €3,92 per 100 kilos. The reason for this is that Royal A-ware pays an extra seasonal surcharge of €2,00 per 100 kilos for meadow milk from May to July. At this company, after Vreugdenhil, the meadow milk price rose the most in May.
The maximum milk price for May rose as fast as the basic milk price, because there are no more changes in the system of supplements, as happened with the meadow milk premiums.
The average milk price was a record high of €55,49 per 100 kilos. In June, milk prices promise to be even higher again.
Vreugdenhil is an outlier with milk price
Compared to last year, milk prices have increased by an average of €16 per 100 kilos. However, the differences per dairy processor are considerable and range from €13 (Arla) to €21 (Vreugdenhil) per 100 kilos.
