News Milk prices organic

PlanetProof member turns more than organic again

June 28, 2022 - Wouter Baan

In July, organic milk prices will rise for the fifth month in a row. Current milk prices, however, are rising faster. At FrieslandCampina this means that a participant in the PlanetProof milk flow again receives more than an organic member.

With an increase of €3,50 FrieslandCampina gives a considerable swing to the organic milk price, increasing it to €62,68 per 100 kilos. This is calculated on the basis of the standard fat and protein contents and an annual supply of 1 million kilos.

The participants in the PlanetProof milk flow will be paid €63,93 per 100 kilos in July based on the above preconditions. This means that the payment price for this conventional milk flow is above the organic segment for the second month in a row. This is a striking event that results from the rapidly rising milk prices in the conventional segment, while the organic milk prices only started to rise later. The organic milk price is still above the guaranteed price, but this does not include the PlanetProof premium.

Arla and Vreugdenhil
With Arla this contradiction is not visible. For July, the organic milk price will increase by €0,29 to €67,89 per 100 kilos. The maximum achievable current milk price is €61,27. At Arla, there is therefore still a significant difference between conventional and organic. Viewed over May, the differences at Vreugdenhil are small, which means that there is a chance that the organic milk price at that processor will soon be surpassed by the current milk price, including bonuses.
