LTO wants Elbert Dijkgraaf as mediator nitrogen unrest

1 July 2022 - Linda van Eekeres - 7 comments

LTO Nederland puts Elbert Dijkgraaf - professor, former SGP Member of Parliament and member of the Remkes Commission - forward as a mediator between farmers and the cabinet. During the emergency debate last night about social unrest, the MPs' proposal for an independent mediator was embraced by Prime Minister Rutte.

As far as LTO is concerned, the mediator must map out the views of those involved 'in order to arrive at solutions with support'. Rutte emphasized that the objectives and speed of the nitrogen policy are 'not up for discussion'. However, LTO argues that content is crucial. "It is impossible to discuss the current concern and unrest without addressing the real pain points of tackling the nitrogen problem. We must therefore be able to talk about the map with 'directive goals', time schedule and the goal of the 50% reduction in 2030," said LTO.

During the emergency debate last night, MPs from CDA, VVD, ChristenUnie and Caroline van der Plas of the BoerBurgerBeweging indicated that they saw something in a mediator or reconciliation committee. This follows the example of former Minister of Agriculture Cees Veerman (CDA) who argued in an interview that the cabinet and livestock farming should be brought together again with the help of a crisis committee. Rutte promised to come up with a detailed idea about this within a week.

LTO suggests Dijkgraaf, because according to the organization he has confidence 'among both farmers and horticulturists and the government'. Yesterday Van der Plas named former chairman of Wageningen UR Aalt Dijkhuizen and outgoing chairman Louise Fresco as possible candidates.

Everything better than Cees Veerman, he has already destroyed enough. he is only there to be able to send an invoice. also remember that he has targeted natural monuments. and is in the pocket of t cda who does not want to give way or even want to change anything within the government coalition.

Don't start talking now, it's starting to crack at some. LTO no longer has a mandate and gives in quickly.

Saw that the CDA has put on the penitential cloth. That would be nice, but think it is too late.

Simply applying the Hague method say a lot, promise nothing, stretch and continue with prick actions. You can keep using this recipe for years until perspective is offered.
Don't start with a mediator now, then you will be shaved for the summer recess and the D66 clique will win.

Marcel is right with the government is not negotiable.
Then we should act the same way.
They need the farmers, they will automatically come up with better proposals.
Can't do anything else because it couldn't be worse.
Therefore we have nothing to lose.

If I'm not mistaken, Dijkgraaf has a peasant heart. What should we do with that scum like Remkes. Soon 1 of D66 will be added, and the farmers can fuck off. We try to keep up with the rules with our material that goes on the road, but we have to persevere until the elections of a new government.
