ZuivelNL expands board and invests again

7 July 2022 - Klaas van der Horst

The board of the trade organization ZuivelNL has been officially expanded with the Dutch Dairymen Board as a voting member. Like the Dutch Dairy Farmers' Union, the DDB has one vote on the board. LTO Dairy Farming has 2 votes.

In addition to the farmers' organisations, the dairy industry is also entitled to vote on the board of ZuivelNL. The organization sees DDB membership as a reinforcement of its support base within the Dutch dairy chain.

Among other things, the general meeting of members approved the 2021 annual accounts. After a difficult period, this was again positively closed with a reserve of €2,2 million. This result was mainly achieved through a significant cut in activities. Last year, a total of €3 million was cut.

Return European milk price comparison
The organization expects to be able to invest again this year, including in a return of the European milk price comparison. Until a few years ago, this was under the banner of LTO Nederland, but due to cutbacks at ZuivelNL, the comparison stopped two years ago. The European Dairy Farmers has tried to adopt the comparison, but this did not get off the ground.

From now on, the comparison will take place under the flag of ZuivelNL itself. After all, he also raises the money for that. The disappearance of the milk price comparison was experienced as a loss throughout Europe, says board member Sieta van Keimpema.

She was appointed as a member of the board during the general meeting, together with Oscar Meuffels of the NZO/A-ware. Hester Maij (NZO/FrieslandCampina) and Erwin Wunnekink (LTO) had previously been (re)appointed as board members by written procedure.
