Slightly lower peak in milk supply European top

Production in the EU6 will amount to almost 9,67 million tons in May, according to data collected by Dataview based on data from the European Commission. This is a decrease of more than 1,2%, or 120.000 tons, compared to May 2021. This is not a big move statistically. For example, milk production in 2019 and 2020 fell lower in the six largest 'milk member states' of the EU. than this year with 9,58 million tons and 9,52 million tons respectively.
The overview shows that milk production in almost all European member states fell slightly in May compared to the same month a year earlier. Italy and Poland are exceptions. In these two countries, the milk supply in May is more or less the same as last year. Germany is the largest milk producer in the EU with a production of just under 2,83 million tons in May. (-1,7% compared to May 2021), followed by France with 2,19 million tonnes (-1,9%).
Then in May, at an appropriate distance, but close together, the Netherlands (1.203.560 tons), Ireland (1.203.380 tons), Poland (1.127.630 tons) and Italy (1.114.000 tons). Milk supply in the Netherlands and Ireland was respectively 0,8% and 1,26% lower than in May 2021.
