The €51,70 per 100 kilos at 4,2% fat, 3,4% protein, net ex farm is a so-called basic milk price, so without specific regional surcharges such as for Alpine milk or mountain milk. The VMB still identifies differences in the average milk price between the various regions within Bavaria. For example, dairy farmers in the north of the German state receive an average of €1,00 per 100 kilos more than their colleagues in the more southern regions of Bavaria. The organization expects milk prices to rise slightly this month in the German state, now that processors have succeeded in implementing further price increases in the chain. After butter, milk powder and cheese, the dairy industry also managed to increase prices in the fresh milk segment last month. This was good for an increase of €2 per 100 kilos for July in conventional milk.

Organic milk price
The association has also calculated the organic milk price for Bavarian dairy farmers. The price of organic milk in July 2022 will be €57,70 per 100 kilos, an increase of 9,5% compared to the beginning of this year. The VMB notes that German consumers have become more reluctant to purchase organic dairy products as a result of higher prices. Apart from the higher organic milk price, generic inflation also plays a role. As a result, the dairy industry initially had some difficulty in passing on the higher costs in the organic chain, but according to the VMB it succeeded in doing so in the course of the first six months.

The VMB publishes milk prices for Bavaria twice a year: at the beginning and halfway through the year.
