In the search for new suppliers, Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods will recruit in the Belgian province of Antwerp. Due to the declining milk production in the Netherlands, it is the first time that the milk powder producer is now also recruiting abroad. In its own words, this is an exciting step, but the company is full of confidence.
Vreugdenhil has been looking for new suppliers for some time, but was initially limited to the Netherlands. This search was not without success, more than 110 dairy farmers have been welcomed as new suppliers in recent months, accounting for 140 million kilos of extra supply every year. That the milk price of Vreugdenhil high eyes, is probably a binding agent.
Challenging step
It is likely that milk production in the Netherlands will continue to decline in the coming years. As a result, many dairy producers are looking for extra milk. Vreugdenhil calls the fact that the search for new suppliers is taking place outside the national borders a challenging step. However, the company is full of confidence: "We can offer the Belgian dairy farmer a good price for the milk", says director of Milk Supply Patrick Besten. The supply from Belgium is destined for the factory in Gorinchem.
