Recycle refusers fined less often

21 September 2022 - Klaas van der Horst

ZuivelNL has stopped supplying data to Statistics Netherlands (CBS) since July and states that only non-traceable data from CBS have been passed on to RIVM. Due to the ongoing commotion and lack of clarity about the data and the agreement, the number of companies that no longer fine dairy farmers for not supplying Recycling data has increased.

Dairy companies themselves and affiliated farmers confirm this. Eko-Holland and Arla did not participate, but other companies, such as Rouveen Cheese Specialties and Vreugdenhil, no longer fine Kringloop refusers. Other processors are also turning a blind eye.

Data committee
ZuivelNL has now set up a data committee. This will provide advice on how to proceed with data processing. In that context, it is also discussed with the members whether the contract with CBS should be permanently terminated or whether, in an adapted form, it will still provide benefits for dairy farming on balance. The representatives of LTO, NMV, DDB and NZO on the board must decide on this.
