Arla Foods is steaming upwards with the milk price for November. The current milk price for the Netherlands increased by more than €1,50 per 100 kilos, as is also apparent from the Boerenbusiness milk price comparator. The organic milk price also rose, but slightly less. The increase is striking because dairy prices outside the retail sector have been falling for some time and the income of many dairies is no longer increasing.
Now Arla is not breaking any records with a plus of €1,58 and a basic milk price of €61,88 per 100 kilos. Yet the increase in the advance price is striking.
This may be due to the fact that Arla sells a large part of its production to the European retail sector. Companies such as Edeka and Metro have recently agreed to significantly higher purchasing prices for butter and milk, among other things. This has a positive effect on the turnover and results of a company like Arla.
Bulk dairy prices have fallen significantly in recent weeks. This week, milk fat in particular took another big hit.
Arla also succeeds in causing the organic milk price to rise considerably. This makes it one of the best payers, according to the organic milk price comparator van Boerenbusiness.
On average, the organic milk price has risen more slowly this year than the conventional milk price.
