The Belgian Laiterie des Ardennes (LDA) lowers the milk price by €2,00 per 100 litres, making it the first dairy company in Belgium to reflect the decreased selling prices in the market in the milk price. It remains one of the best payers on average over the year.
LDA has set the milk price for October at a Belgian standard price of €55,00 per 100 kilos. With actual contents of 3,5% protein and 4,2% fat, this amounts to a price of €57,70 per 100 liters.
The other major players on the Belgian dairy market have kept their prices stable in recent months. Only Arla has increased the milk price for November.
Arla and also other companies in the Belgian milk price comparator Boerenbusiness do have a different profile than that of LDA. Arla has much more sales to retail and is strong in branded products. The company mainly processes the milk into products for other food companies and is therefore more involved in commodities. There, price developments in the market are communicated much more directly. Not only butter and milk powders have fallen sharply in recent months, mozzarella has also suffered a price drop.
Despite the reduction, LDA is still one of the best payers in Belgium on average until October, with an advance milk price of €54,70 per 100 kilos. This is more than Milcobel pays, but below the milk price of Royal A-ware. In the meantime, much also depends on the additional payment that is paid. In the meantime, LDA is also sticking to its plan to increase membership capital.
