Milcobel will later announce milk price 'in the interests of members'

14 December 2022 - Klaas van der Horst

Milcobel postpones the publication of the last milk price of the year by about two weeks. This is due to the volatile dairy market and because the cooperative Belgian dairy group wants to get the most out of the market for its members.

Milcobel reports this after first informing the members. On December 29, the Board of Directors will meet in an extra meeting to prepare the 2022 year-end closing and to evaluate the prospects for the month of December and the new year. The milk price for December will then also be determined and subsequently perhaps for the entire year, the company reports.

Close to the wind
In the message to members, Milcobel points out that the various dairy markets have been declining and very erratic, especially in recent weeks. This requires 'sailing close to the wind', it is stated. Milcobel paid for the month of November according to the Belgian milk price comparator van Boerenbusiness €58,43 per 100 liters of milk (with an annual supply of 1,3 million litres). On average €55,46 was paid up to and including November.

So far, Arla, FrieslandCampina and A-ware have already announced their milk prices for December.
