It is very quiet on the roughage market. There is not much trade in hay, straw and silage. The supply of by-products is holding up better, but here too there are several factories that have stopped.
Several forage traders operate at a minimum occupancy during this week between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Most of the work was therefore done last week or will be postponed to next week. This means that very little trading is done these days.
Stable
The by-product market remains reasonably balanced. The supply is somewhat smaller at the moment, but most traders and livestock farmers have prepared for this well in advance. The DCA Indicative Price for spent grain therefore remains unchanged at €4,05 per percent dry matter. The Indicative Price for feed potatoes has also remained the same at €45 per tonne.
The supply of good silage maize and good silage grass is and remains limited. That hasn't changed this week either. There is hardly any trading this week. The DCA Indicative Price for maize is €100 per tonne and for silage at €85 per tonne. A little more is done in hay and straw, most traders are certainly not busy. The DCA Indicative Price for wheat and barley straw has remained the same as last week and amounts to €140 per tonne. The DCA Indication for grass seed hay is €145 to €155 per tonne, depending on the variety. For meadow hay the price is €190 per tonne.
