The trade in phosphate rights has shown a fairly lively picture in recent weeks. Traders are signaling fairly busy trading for the time of year, but prices are moving in a fairly unpredictable pattern.
At the end of last week, from about Thursday onwards, prices suddenly started to rise quite sharply, to a top of around €136,00 per kilo. Since the beginning of this week, the tide has turned and prices have dropped to €133,00 to €132,00 per kilo.

There seems to be no clear explanation for these movements. In any case, no clear explanation is given. "At the end of last week, prices suddenly started to rise, but when they reached a level of €136,00, everything suddenly went quiet," notes a trader.
The price may drop further, but it may also pick up again. No one dares to make a prediction. However, it is not expected that the level of the end of last year will be reached again soon.
