The Dutch milk supply continues to increase. More milk was delivered in January 2022, both compared to December and January 2023. However, the levels fell slightly compared to December.
The latest figures from RVO show a milk supply for January of almost 1,211 billion kilos. That is almost 43 million kilos (3,6%) more than in December and about 53 million kilos (4,6%) more than in January 2022.
Fat production increased by 1.128 tons to 55.266 tons, or just over 2%, compared to December. This means that the average fat content fell from 4,64% to 4,56% in January.
Compared to a year ago, the average fat content in January milk increased from 4,53% to 4,56%, which amounts to an increase of 5,5%.
Due to the still high milk price, it remained worthwhile to use extra concentrates for good milk production with higher average contents in the milk.
