DDB from agricultural agreement to make statement

20 March 2023 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 4 comments

The Dutch Dairymen Board (DDB) has withdrawn from the consultations to reach an agricultural agreement to give room to the newly elected representatives of BBB in the provinces and the Senate. DDB sat at the Dairy Farming and Veal Farming sector table. "We want to make a clear statement with this. To the policymakers in The Hague, but also to the other agricultural interest groups," says chairman Sieta van Keimpema when asked.

"March 15, the Netherlands decided otherwise, the Netherlands has ensured that there is another chance, in the Senate and in the provinces for farmers, to maintain farm-worthy livestock farming and agriculture," says Van Keimpema. DDB does not want to get in the way of those new people with an agricultural agreement that presents them with an impossible task, namely to create space for agriculture, which is not available due to the 4 November letters and climate plans from Jetten.'

In its own words, DDB has 'made 17% effort at the sector table up to and including Friday 100 March to develop perspectives for its members'. At the same time, DDB also openly supported the #Stemzeweg! campaigns and the March 11 demonstration of FDF.

'Hopeless dictate from The Hague'
DDB has come to the conclusion that it does not want an agricultural agreement 'under the current hopeless diktat of The Hague, with the (unlawful), oppressive preconditions, unattainable goals and opaque frameworks'. "After all, the WUR analysis of the dairy farming organizations about the claims on agricultural land has already shown that this cabinet offers no prospects for dairy farming," the board said in a press release.

Which, according to Van Keimpema, also plays a role in the fact that Minister of Agriculture Piet Adema 'appears to have no money for his plans for the agricultural agreement'. "And it turns out he doesn't have a euro for the Animal Worthy Livestock Farming covenant either."

DDB feels supported by the results of the provincial elections. "We want to give the new members of the Provincial Council and the new composition of the Senate the opportunity to do their job properly, to do justice to the wishes of society. To ensure legislative changes that do justice to guidelines, but also and above all, do justice to to our members, our wonderful agricultural sector."

In the interest of members
Or Van Keimpema hopes that other agricultural advocates will also leave the consultation? "Everyone must do what is best in the interest of their members, but I hope they don't fall into the trap. With our departure, we choose in the interest of our members, but we also want to make a clear statement to the rest. "

DDB from the agricultural agreement! No one really cares about that right now. The majority of farmers do not even know who/what DDB is
