Cono no longer last in milk price comparison
The difference between the milk price of Cono and other processors is slowly but surely narrowing, because the cheese maker from the Beemster has lowered slightly less than other players. Including bonuses and premiums, Cono is even close to closing the gate.

For March, Cono reduces the basic milk price by €4,73 to €45,60 per 100 kilos. The negative difference with DOC Kaas, the penultimate processor in the Boerenbusiness Dutch Milk price calculator, is still €1,24. This is still significant, but a few months ago the difference between the two processors was almost €8. The difference with FrieslandCampina is €4,12, to the disadvantage of Cono. This difference was also greater a few months ago.
Including bonuses and premiums, Cono, with a maximum milk price of €50,10, even exceeds DOC Cheese. The difference with the maximum milk price of Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods has also decreased to less than €1.
Sentiment turned
The rally on the dairy market in 2022 turned out negatively for Cono Kaasmakers, which is traditionally known as a good payer. In order to maintain market shares of branded cheese, it was not possible to implement the price increases that producers of bulk cheeses could achieve. This was reflected in the milk price that lagged behind.
In the meantime, sentiment on the dairy market has turned considerably and bulk cheeses have been severely depreciated to prices around the long-term average. The premium on branded cheeses is therefore increasing again. This is to the advantage of Cono, which can then pay a milk price that is more competitive with other processors.
