The Belgian dairy industry seems to be running up against a sort of magical lower limit. Like two other parties, Milcobel also stops for April in terms of reduction at a price at the Belgian legal contents that no longer starts with a 4.
Milcobel reduces the price at the legally prescribed levels by 50 cents to €40,00 per 100 liters, just as A-ware and LDA previously did. The price at real levels of 4,3% fat and 3,5% protein remains higher. Milcobel reports that this amounts to €44,23 per 100 liters for maximum premiums. This is with an annual supply of 2,7 million liters.
At the volume at which Boerenbusiness compares milk prices (1,3 million liters per year), the milk price amounts to €43,12 per 100 liters.
Efficiency
Milcobel states that the dairy markets remain at low levels and that no clear direction can be observed. This makes buyers hesitate and thus creates even more reluctance. Milcobel cannot do much about this, but says it will continue to work on efficiency improvements.
In this context, Langemark is working hard on the implementation of the pasture cooperation agreement with Arla. This requires the production of highly concentrated whey permeate, which then goes to Arla.
Mozzarella Mozzarella Experience Center
A Mozzarella Experience Center is also being built in Langemark. Milcobel thus strengthens its position as the reference in the field of industrial applications of mozzarella. The new center is scheduled to open next month.
