Fonterra's Global Dairy Trade (GDT) platform has attracted a new American participant for the second time in a short period of time. The Valley Milk company will also offer skimmed milk powder (SMP) at the digital auction.
More than a week ago, the GDT platform announced that the northwestern dairy cooperative Darigold joins. This time it is the private dairy company Valley Milk from California's central valley.
This company owns eighteen large dairy farms, which had the factory built in Turlock five years ago.
With an annual milk supply of more than 1,1 billion kilos, Valley Milk is a lot smaller than Darigold with approximately 4,5 billion kilos per year, but it is a good addition to GDT's American offering. Both companies have indicated that they want to start with SMP, but later also want to offer other powders.
