Dairy industry pushes wage demand off the table

24 April 2023 - Matthijs Bremer

The Dutch Dairy Organization (NZO) does not comment on it ultimatum that FNV and CNV put to her on Thursday 20 April. The unions announced that actions would follow if no agreement was reached on a new collective labor agreement before Wednesday 26 April.

NZO has made a final offer of an 8% wage increase within a new collective labor agreement with a term of one year. NZO sees this wage increase as a big step and indicates that there is no room for further negotiations. According to NZO, the ultimatum of the trade unions is not realistic. The current final bid is the maximum according to NZO.

The last offer from the unions was a 10% wage increase. Now that the negotiations have come to an end, FNV is aiming for a wage increase of at least 14,3%. In addition, the union demands that wages will be automatically indexed in the future. The NZO considers actions irresponsible for the sector and argues that no one benefits from a situation in which they are opposed to each other.
