In March, the Dutch milk price dipped below the EU average. This is evident from the European milk price comparison of the EDF (European Dairy Farmers), as published by ZuivelNL. It's the first time in many years.
For the comparison, the EDF focuses on FrieslandCampina's milk price. This amounted to €48,55 per 100 kilos for March, while the average European milk price came to €48,97 per 100 kilos. On average over the last 12 months, FrieslandCampina is even higher, at €55,61 per 100 kilos, which makes it almost the leader again. Only the German DMK paid more in the past twelve months. According to the comparison, the Belgian Milcobel paid out €42,50 per 100 kilos.

In March, the highest milk prices were paid in Spain, where dairy company Capsa Food paid €60,80 per 100 kilos, and in Germany, where Hochwald paid €54,06 for 100 kilos of milk. High milk prices are also still paid in Switzerland, but that is a country outside the EU, with its own market that is still partially protected. Since March, milk prices have fallen further in the Netherlands and Germany, among others. In France, prices have now stabilized more. For example, the Sodiaal cooperative has set the price for May at €44,00 per 100 liters.
