Ausnutria Netherlands more Chinese after CEO departure

11 May 2023 - Klaas van der Horst

Ausnutria Nederland will adjust the management structure, according to the company, in order to grow faster and to cooperate better with the Chinese parent company. The changes mean that CEO Jeroen Kiers draws his conclusions and will continue his career outside the company.

Kiers' departure comes as a surprise, but the changes at Ausnutria fit into a pattern that has become more visible since the start of the year. First, Bart van der Meer stepped down as CEO of Ausnutria Dairy Corporation. He was replaced by a Chinese manager. Since then, the company has gradually become more 'Chinese'. That in itself is not surprising, as the company is largely in the hands of mainland Chinese, although most of the production equipment is located in the Netherlands.

More direct line China
With the latest adjustments in the Netherlands, some direct reporting lines will be shifted to the management of parent company Ausnutria Dairy Corporation. "In doing so, the organization expects to be able to achieve better cooperation and alignment with its Chinese sister organization and the board in Hong Kong and to collectively achieve future healthy growth," the announcement said.

Kiers will step down as CEO of the Dutch organization on July 15. He has been CEO at Ausnutria since 2020. Before that, he was director of Strategy & Innovation. It is not clear whether the new accounting problems at the infant nutrition producer also play a role in Kiers' departure. A month ago, the company reported inflated sales figures, but now nothing more is said about it.
