The milk price falls have taken fairly large steps in recent months, but with the start of May, the momentum has slowed considerably, according to an analysis of the price development.
De Boerenbusiness Milk price comparator indicates that the average basic milk price in May amounted to €42,02 per 100 kilos. That is €1,99 less than the average in April and is the smallest monthly price drop since the start of the year.
The highest payout remained Arla, even though the company implemented a fairly large price reduction. At DOC Cheese, the basic milk price was the lowest, because parent company DMK cut payments and intervened slightly harder than Arla with a minus of €3,24 per 100 kilos.
