DOC Kaas has again reduced the milk price for July, albeit with a smaller step than the previous times. As a result, the basic milk price is now considerably below that of FrieslandCampina. It is a reversal of the situation that existed from July last year to February this year.
The board of DOC Kaas apologized to its members earlier this year for the sharply falling milk price, but the Dutch cooperative has no control over price formation. The milk price is determined by parent company DMK, where the DOC Kaas cooperative has limited voting rights. If DMK changes the milk price, the milk price of DOC Cheese will also change, also for July.

The basic milk price of DOC Cheese is decreasing according to the Boerenbusiness Dutch Milk price calculator by €1,00 per 100 kilos to €37,95 per 100 kilos. With the help of all kinds of allowances, a few euros can be added, so that a maximum milk price of well above €40,00 per 100 kilos can be achieved. Including all allowances, €40,70 can be received, provided that grazing is practiced, fed according to the rules of Vlog and all sustainability requirements are met.
The difference in milk price with FrieslandCampina does not become smaller. At a basic milk price the difference in payment is €4,50, at the maximum milk price it is more than €8,00 per 100 kilos.
A small consolation may be that FrieslandCampina is living above its own means when calculating the milk price, as the company recently admitted. So far there are no signs of this at DMK.
