Arla did not provide extensive explanation when announcing the decision, but CEO Peter Tuborgh did express his concerns about the dairy market earlier this week. Arla says it pays the highest possible milk price, but there is great uncertainty in the market. Tuborgh also outlined a division between Europe, where prices are at a relatively stable and high level, and the rest of the world, where prices have fallen much further and there is a bleak climate in terms of sales opportunities and price formation.

De common milk price comparator van Boerenbusiness gives a marginally higher milk price for Arla for September, but this is due to conversion differences and matters such as cost distribution between various Arla regions. Basically the price remains the same.

The same applies to the organic milk price. That comes according to the Organic Milk Price Comparator van Boerenbusiness slightly lower.
