The Dutch milk supply fell sharply last month and is therefore approaching the level of last August. Fat production is also declining, but less rapidly, according to data from RVO.
Compared to August last year, only 0,3% more milk was supplied in the past month (1.148 million kilos of ten versus 1.151 million kilos now. This appears to be partly due to the dry, warm weather. The fat percentage in the milk was was high and was 3,2% higher than last August. Last year 48.368 tons were supplied, compared to 49.908 tons this year. The average fat content increased from 4,21% to 4,33%.
In the period up to and including August, 2,6% more milk was supplied this year than last year up to and including August. In total this amounts to an additional 236,6 million kilos.
The amount of milk fat supplied increased by 4,5%, making it 18.293 tonnes greater than last year in the first eight months.
