Lactalis is the fourth Dutch dairy manufacturer to increase its milk price for November. The cheesemaker takes a slightly smaller step than the other raisers, but maintains a good middle position.
Thanks to the increase of 80 cents per 100 kilos, the basic milk price has risen above €40,00 per 100 kilos and now stands at €40,39. This is the price for an annual supply of 1 million kilos, excluding VAT, after deduction of contribution for ZuivelNL and at Dutch standard contents. Dairy farmers with pasture grazing receive €2,00 more per 100 kilos.
Apart from a general sustainability surcharge of 60 cents (which is included in the basic milk price), Leerdammer no longer applies any other surcharges.
General manager Jan Verbessem, who also holds sway over Lactalis Belgium, recently told Zuivelzicht magazine of the Dutch Dairy Organization (NZO) that Lactalis Leerdammer wants to attract more Dutch milk. A recent increase in the quantity surcharge for milk deliveries of more than 100.000 kilos per month (1,2 million kilos) fits within this context. €2,50 per 100 kilos of milk is paid for this, 25 cents more than for volumes in the graduated scale under 100.000 kilos per month. The company has not disclosed other attractive conditions.
The cheese maker with factories in Schoonrewoerd and Dalfsen has lost many suppliers in recent years.
