This year, Spanish and French dairy companies are the leaders in the European milk price comparison of the European Dairy Federation (EDF) and ZuivelNL. The Finnish Valio is also a good payer.
The French dairy industry lagged behind last year and was nowhere near able to pay the high prices set by processors from other countries. This time the signs have been put up and dairy in France is benefiting from higher prices with a delay.
Sodiaal in the northwest of France paid the most milk money in September of this year at €47,08 per 100 kilos. This is followed by Lactalis and Danone in the northwest and finally Lactalis in the Loire region. The Spanish Capsa Foods has the highest price at €47,99, the Finnish Valio pays €46,46. Compared to this, FrieslandCampina and Milcobel pay relatively little. They are successively €39,79 and €38,09 per 100 kilos. The average milk price in the European Union for September is €41,33.
Looking at the past twelve months (since September), FrieslandCampina is not doing too badly. FrieslandCampina then pays an above-average milk price of €49,12 per 100 kilos.
