Kooperative Milchverwertung Emlichheim will stop supplying milk to A-ware from 2025. Instead, the German supplier association will do business with Fude+Serrahn and probably also Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods.
Kooperative Milchverwertung Emlichheim manages a milk pool of more than 130 million kilos of milk, produced by German dairy farmers in Lower Saxony who often farm close to the Netherlands. In recent years, the milk was sold one-on-one to A-ware. The collaboration that started in 2019 will be stopped from 2025, co-director Albert Weersmann of the German cooperative confirmed when asked. According to the current contract, the suppliers' association will continue to do business with A-ware next year, with the aim of switching to two new customers from 2025. A-ware takes note of the developments, the company said.
Role for FrieslandCampina?
One of the two new customers will be Fude+Serrahn, which is a large dairy trader and processor in Germany itself. Another part of the milk lake probably goes to Vreugdenhil. "We are in discussions with Vreugdenhil and are in the final phase." Weersmann leaves it open in what proportions the milk pool is split. He does indicate that the total milk pool of 130 million kilos will grow rather than shrink in the coming years. Sources in the market say that the part of the milk pool that goes to Fude+Serrahn will be sold on to FrieslandCampina. Weersmann cannot confirm this. FrieslandCampina also does not want to comment on the rumor. Inquiries with Fude+Serrahn do not yield much either. They do not want to discuss the matter publicly anyway. This is to protect the privacy of the parties with whom business is done.
The dairy producers mentioned in this context are nevertheless all looking for extra milk. Given the relatively large volume that Kooperative Milchverwertung Emlichheim represents, the club is in principle an attractive party for all processors.
