During the last Global Dairy Trade of this year, many manufacturer prices ended in the green. Butter even posted a convincing price increase of almost 10%. On the other hand, skimmed milk powder does make some sacrifices.
On average, the index rises by 2,3%. This is the largest increase since mid-October. In the subsequent auctions, market sentiment was ailing. Now another convincing increase has emerged.
Butter in the elevator
Butter in particular is attracting attention with an increase of 9,9% to $5.458 per tonne. This means that the price rises at the last minute to a record for 2023. This price increase was not anticipated. European product from the Belgian supplier Solarec was traded the most expensively.
The cheddar price is also convincing with an unexpectedly strong increase of 6,9% to $4.265 per tonne. This does not break a record for this year, but the price is the highest since the auction at the beginning of July
Mixed picture for milk powders
The milk powder shows a mixed picture. Skimmed milk powder loses a fraction with a decrease of 1,3%, while whole milk powder achieves a plus of almost 3%. This brings the prices to $2.620 and $3.207 per tonne respectively.
