A-ware keeps milk prices the same in January

2 January 2024 - Wouter Baan

A-ware is keeping the fat and protein prices the same in the Netherlands and Belgium this month. The dairy producer is therefore choosing a different path than FrieslandCampina and Arla. In addition, A-ware Belgium announces a new surcharge for 'footprint'.

Based on the standard contents and an annual supply of 1 million kilos, the Dutch basic milk price in January is €43,39 per 100 kilos. The maximum milk price linked to the Albert Heijn milk flow is €50,14. Organic milk prices also remain the same.

Optically speaking, the milk price is falling, but that is because the December bonus of €1,50 has been cancelled. In the Milk price comparator This month, A-ware is narrowly below FrieslandCampina, which announced at the end of December that it would significantly reduce the guaranteed price for January. Arla opted for a fairly significant increase, but did not pass FrieslandCampina and A-ware. However, the difference has been made up considerably.

Extra surcharge in Belgium
In Belgium A-ware will also keep the fat and protein prices unchanged and the December bonus will also expire here. With an annual supply of 1,3 million liters and real fat and protein contents of 4,3 and 3,5 grams per kilo, the milk price this month amounts to €43,23. This amount is partly due to an additional 'footprint' surcharge from 2024. This amounts to €0,50 per 100 kilos. The editors do not yet know what exactly this surcharge entails.
