Leerdammer gives January prize plus, Eko-Holland does not

3 January 2024 - Klaas van der Horst

Lactalis-Leerdammer follows the example of Arla Foods and gives the milk price for January a plus. Not as large as the Scandinavian cooperative, but more than the other parties so far. Eko-Holland actually moderates the milk price slightly.

Leerdammer does not give a reason for the increase of €1,12 per 100 kilos, but what is striking is that the current increase has fairly leveled the playing field in the Netherlands in terms of prices. For this, see the Boerenbusiness Milk price comparator.

A few parties increase their milk price, a few others keep the price stable or reduce it slightly compared to November. The outcome is that the basic prices so far have all been between €43 and €44 per 100 kilos.

It gives the impression of a recalibration of pricing, although the different processors will have their own reasons for this. Arla operates in different markets than, for example, FrieslandCampina and other companies.

The picture is slightly different for organic milk prices. There remain more and larger differences, as can also be seen in the Organic Milk Price Comparator van Boerenbusiness.

The movements are largely the same as with conventional milk, but the results are different. Market leader Eko-Holland opts for a modest reduction of €0,50 per 100 kilos.
