In December, the Dutch milk supply also lagged behind that of 2022. Total milk production in 2023 will show an increase.
At 1,14 million tonnes, milk supply in our country fell by 2,3% last month compared to the same month a year earlier, according to figures from RVO. Fat production fell in the same order of magnitude to 52.893 tons.
The decline in milk supply in December is somewhat smaller than a month earlier when the difference was more than 3%. In addition, it is visible that there is a seasonal increase in milk production. In December, the average daily production was 36.785 tons, compared to 35.691 tons in November.
Slight increase
Now that the December figures are known, the balance for the whole of 2023 can also be drawn up. At 13,8 million tons, the supply was 0,9% above the 2022 level. This means that the supply has shown a slight increase for the two years in a row. More milk was produced, especially in the first half of 2023.
