The Belgian cooperatives Laiterie des Ardennes and Milcobel have significantly increased their milk prices. LDA did it with the December prize, Milcobel with the January prize.
LDA has taken the biggest step. The Walloon cooperative increased the milk price at real contents and a volume of 1,3 million liters by €2,67 from €40,04 to €42,71 per 100 liters. The company benefited, among other things, from the good results achieved by selling products on the GDT platform.
With the increase, LDA exceeds the Milcobel price for December by €1,64 per 100 liters, as is also visible in the Belgian milk price comparator van Boerenbusiness.
Second increase
Milcobel increased by €2,06 in December under the same conditions. For January, the Flemish cooperative will increase the milk price by another €2,06 per 100 liters to €43,12 per 100 liters. The company says it can pay a maximum price of €44,23 per 100 liters, at maximum volumes. Milcobel indicates that it has started the year well, partly thanks to better whey valorization. The stated milk price of €43,12 includes a €1,00 sustainability premium.
Sustainability
In the milk price comparator, the latter premium will be regarded as a plus on the basic price from this year onwards. This also happens at all other companies in the comparator. The reason is that dairy companies are increasingly distinguishing themselves with sustainability bonuses and the differences in payment for these are increasing. This is made more visible in the new design, which is also used for the Dutch comparator.
