Milk supply in February slightly higher than last year

The Dutch milk supply fell sharply in February, both compared to last year and January. The volume drop was compensated by higher content levels. Compared to February 2023, more fat was delivered. With a supply of 1124,3 million tonnes, a total of more than 13 million kilos more milk was supplied in February than in the same month last year, an increase of 1,2%. However, daily supply in February last was approximately one million kilos lower than last year.

The milk became a fraction thinner than last February. The average fat content fell from 4,59% to 4,56% last month. Nevertheless, the total fat supply increased by 0,4% last February, thanks to the slightly larger number of kilos of milk supplied.

Compared to January 2024, there was a decrease in supply of more than 51 million kilos of milk (-4,4%), while the supply of milk fat decreased by 3.178 tons (-5,8%).
