The milk price for the month of March at Belgian standard percentages is €41,00 per 100 liters. At levels of 43 grams of fat and 35 grams of protein per liter and at maximum premiums, the real milk price then amounts to €45,25 per 100 liters. That is €1,05 more than was paid in February.

According to the Belgian Milk Price Comparator van Boerenbusiness Milcobel's milk price at real contents and an annual delivery of 1,3 million liters amounts to €44,76 per 100 liters. This means that Milcobel comes along, but does not top the rankings.

Since the departure of CEO Niels van Dam, Milcobel has been led by a 'College of 4'. However, this is intended to be temporary. In the meantime, a new CEO is being sought.

Mixed approach Milcobel
Meanwhile, reports are circulating in farmers' circles that a large number of members would resign as of April 1, especially towards A-ware. This company does not want to respond to that. Milcobel states that the dairy market has changed fundamentally in recent years. The result is, among other things, that dairy farmers change buyers more quickly. Milcobel also has to deal with that. With this in mind, the company has been using a mixed approach for several years, in which its own member milk is supplemented by purchasing milk from third parties and processing wages. In 2023, Milcobel processed a total of more than 1,3 billion liters of milk, the same volume as in 2022.
