DMK threatens to lose farmers, wants to close factory

DMK itself could lose 700 million kilos of milk. Including related companies, this could rise to 1 billion kilos, it was reported Boerenbusiness before. According to reports, there is also 300 million kilos in contract with a German subsidiary.

Dargun
DMK itself does not want to respond directly to the messages, but does indicate that there are problems with the milk volume. It is also cited as one of the reasons why it would like to close the cheese factory in Dargun, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. No official decision has yet been taken on this, but the unions there have been informed of plans in that direction. DMK has implicitly confirmed this.

The factory in Dargun has ninety employees and is located in northeastern Germany. According to DMK, there are other factories in the area, especially in Altentreptow and Waren.

Low milk price
Members who want to leave DMK must expect a notice period of two years. If they all left, the company would only have about 4 billion kilos of milk left, unless additional purchases were made on a large scale. DMK hopes that some of the members who have resigned can be retained.

Many farmers cite DMK's low milk price as the reason for cancellation. In 2022, the milk price was once very good, but last year it was again the lowest in Germany. This frustrates the members. It is not without reason that the authoritative German Lebensmittelzeitung calls DMK 'the eternal promise'.
