A-ware keeps milk prices the same, Cono adds slightly

2 May 2024 - Klaas van der Horst

Dairy company Royal A-ware has kept milk prices the same for the month of May for the third month in a row. In doing so, she does not follow the movement that FrieslandCampina and Arla made. Cheesemaker Cono slightly increases the advance price for April.

The latter pays members a plus of 30 cents per 100 kilos compared to March. This brings the basic milk price according to the Boerenbusiness Milk price comparator works out at €44,52 per 100 kilos.

Basic milk price Cono remains ahead of Arla
With this price, the cooperative remains above Arla's basic milk price for April, but the other Dutch processors are above that. It is fortunate for Cono that almost all members receive a much higher milk price, because almost everyone takes the maximum allowance. A maximum of €49,02 per 100 kilos can be received.

Middle position
Despite the stable situation, A-ware's current milk price remains in the middle position compared to FrieslandCampina and Arla, the only two other dairy companies in the Netherlands that have already set a milk price for May.

The same is the case with the organic milk price in the Netherlands, where only Arla has implemented an increase. FrieslandCampina does not.

In Belgium, A-ware also holds a middle position between FrieslandCampina and Arla, although the milk price of the latter is slowly creeping closer to that of A-ware and FrieslandCampina is slightly increasing its lead.
