Interfood achieves significantly more profit from less turnover
Dairy trader Interfood has achieved excellent results in its fiftieth year of existence. The annual accounts for 2023 show an almost 17% lower turnover, but the net result more than doubled. CEO Frank van Stipdonk is delighted with this success.

According to the annual report, this time in full regalia on the website of the company, turnover fell from €3,6 billion to €3 billion, making the company the second largest dairy trader in the Netherlands in terms of size. In terms of results, however, the company clearly came first, with a net result of €71,5 million. Compared to that amount, the €33,4 million profit from the previous year almost pales in comparison.
To achieve these results, Interfood had to bring 1.156 million tons of product from A to B. That is slightly less than the 1.172 million tons of the previous year. According to the annual report, it did so in a more sustainable way than the year before, with fewer emissions.
Although Interfood mainly earns its living from trading in dairy products and from trading in financial instruments linked to it, the company is also active on a broader scale. For example, together with A-ware, it has an interest in an Estonian cheese producer and a financial interest in Fermify, an Austrian start-up that wants to make cheese via precision fermentation.
Interfood will partly use the annual profit for 2023 to strengthen its equity. Partly because of this, solvency stands at 31,5%, mainly thanks to our own money. Another part, €37,3 million, will be paid out as dividend. Of this, €2,3 million goes to holders of preference shares, the remaining €35 million goes to holders of ordinary shares.
