The milk supply in April fell slightly further compared to the same month last year. While there was a supply decrease of 1,3% in March compared to a year earlier, in April it was a supply decrease of 1,4%.
This is evident from the latest figures from the government implementation service RVO. However, the development is not very dramatic. The supply curve moves between the lines of 2023 (high spring supply) and 2022 (lower supply) and continues to follow the known supply pattern.

Calculated in terms of fat content, the drop in supply is slightly greater, at -2,4%, which is the same as in March. At first glance it seems that the Dutch dairy farming sector has had the supply peak, but to be able to say this with certainty, we must first wait for the supply in May. This month is the first this year with higher temperatures and better weather on average. This, combined with the extra grass growth, could result in an extra high milk yield.
