Arla follows price movements in FrieslandCampina

In principle, all Arla members, both organic and conventional, receive the same increase. However, due to currency fluctuations and other technical issues, the exact payout prices vary.

Dutch Arla members receive a basic milk price of €44,96 per 100 kilos for June, according to the Boerenbusiness Milk price comparator. This is the basic milk price at Dutch standard contents and an annual supply of 1 million kilos. A maximum of €48,65 can be paid and those who operate extra sustainably can receive a little more.

However, organic dairy farmers in the Netherlands are making slightly less progress. They receive only 16 cents more. But €60,42 per 100 kilos is still a very high milk price in the organic segment.

Conventional dairy farmers in Belgium receive 55 cents more per 100 liters and arrive at a milk price of 45,02 per 100 liters, based on real fat and protein contents and an annual supply of 1,3 million liters. See the Belgian Milk Price Comparator Boerenbusiness.

With the increases, Arla is lagging behind FrieslandCampina. In Belgium, this pays about €1,50 per 100 liters more for conventional milk. In the Netherlands, the difference has even risen to more than €1,90 per 100 kilos.

With organic milk the situation is reversed. Arla is by far the best payer there, regardless of the fact that one cooperative applies a summer levy and winter surcharge while another does not.
