Cheesemaker Cono achieved an above-average milk price increase in May, but is also further behind FrieslandCampina. The North Holland-Overijssel cooperative must do its best to keep up with the payment prices of other companies, including in the leading group.
With the milk price increase in May, the basic (advance) milk price amounts to €44,88 per 100 kilos. That is more than Arla pays out, but less than the other Dutch processors, according to the report Boerenbusiness Milk price comparator.
The fact that Cono did more with an increase of 36 cents per 100 kilos than most fellow companies in May (average plus: 31 cents) does not change much.

Cono was for a long time the undisputed leader when it came to paying out milk money, but since December 2021 the cooperative is no longer the automatic best payer, and this does not only apply to the basic milk price. Cono's maximum milk price is also becoming increasingly competitive. First it was A-ware and FrieslandCampina that came up with top dairy lines and associated milk prices, but recently DOC Kaas also has such a product line. The milk price that participants in that product line receive is also higher than the maximum milk price that Cono now pays out.
However, Cono has always imposed a different obligation on himself. The cooperative has not chosen to achieve the highest possible milk price for a limited number of members, but for as many members as possible. She also keeps her own brands up and running.
