The Dutch milk supply fell by more than 20 million kilos in May this year compared to the supply last May. That is a difference of 1,6 percentage points. The milk is thinner.
However, compared to April, there has been an increase in milk supply of 2,86 percentage points.
The decline in milk supply is not only limited on a monthly basis compared to last year. The cumulative decline until May is also limited: 1,29 percentage points.
What is noticeable is that the milk becomes thinner. Not in itself unusual at the start of the grazing season, but the fat supply in May was 3,5 percentage points lower than last May. Cumulatively, the deficit is 1,94 percentage points.
