Milk price DOC Cheese jumps from cellar to the attic
A promise is a promise, as an old Dutch proverb goes. And they understand this all too well in Germany at the DMK dairy cooperative, because the milk price is quickly gaining ground after a promised recovery. In the Netherlands, the members of the subsidiary organization DOC Kaas are also benefiting from this rapid advance. Surprisingly enough, they are the leader of the Milk Price Comparator in July.

Six months ago, DOC Kaas was still at the bottom of the rankings Dutch Milk price calculator, but in July they promptly topped the rankings again. And also with a fairly generous margin of €0,25 over number two Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods. They provide themselves with this position by increasing the basic milk price this month by €1,09 to €47,60 per 100 kilos.
In the ranking with top milk flows, the lead over FrieslandCampina and A-ware is even greater and the difference is more than €1. DOC Kaas has recently also participated in this power play after the launch of the milk flow. Sure! which entitles you to an additional charge of €5.
Recovery was promised
The rapid rise in the milk price of DOC Cheese is striking, but does not come entirely out of the blue. The German dairy cooperative DMK (the parent organization of which DOC Kaas is a shareholder) was certainly not happy with the milk money paid to its members in 2023, CEO Ingo Müller said in June at the presentatione of the annual figures. He promised the members improvement. Less than a month later, it can be concluded that they are not wasting any time, as DOC Cheese already occupies the top position in milk prices in the Netherlands. DMK will probably also have risen in the rankings in Germany.
The better milk price also serves a noble purpose and that is to satisfy members, which is not an unnecessary luxury in the current shrinking market. After the disappointing milk price in 2023, hundreds of DMK member dairy farmers canceled their membership. This outflow did not affect DOC Kaas. They saw the number of members increase from approximately 600 to 653 last year.
