Cono Kaasmakers has mainly increased the milk price in July by giving a boost to the protein price. Perhaps understandable for a cheesemaker, but it is precisely the price of fat that scores well in the market these months.
Cono does not provide an explanation as to why the protein price will increase. It is not that Cono completely ignores the price of fat. That will also increase for July, but much less than the protein price.
According to the Boerenbusiness Dutch Milk price calculator the basic milk price will increase by 67 cents to €46,70 per 100 kilos. This is a prize that only a small number of farmers receive. Most receive the milk price including all allowances, which is why Cono says it pays out an average of €50,46 per 100 kilos for July.
That is not yet the top for individual farmers, because those who score maximum for Caring Dairy in particular can receive €51,20 per 100 kilos. This is the price at the current standard contents, excluding VAT, a delivery of 1 million kilos per year and after deduction of a 5,5 cent contribution for ZuivelNL.
With the basic milk price, Cono is at the back of the payers, but it is not the lowest payer. In July there were two more companies that paid less. With the meadow milk price, Cono also paid 24 cents more than FrieslandCampina, which is a leader again this year.
