Fonterra has increased the milk price for the new season that started in July. The New Zealand dairy cooperative is responding to the improving dairy market, which is also clearly reflected in the Global Dairy Trade.
The milk price forecast for the current 2024/25 season has been increased by $0,50 to $8,50 per kilo of fat and protein. The motivation for the increase is the well-functioning dairy market. This week the Global Dairy Trade rose again and the top of the market is not yet in sight. However, a lot of effort is being made, given that the season has only just started.
Had a good year
The forecast price for the 2023/24 season that ended in June has remained at $7,80 per kilo of fat and protein. CEO Miles Hurrel does say that the dividend that member dairy farmers can expect will be at the top of the range between 0,60 and 0,70 per kilo of fat and protein.
The final milk price will be announced in September, at the same time as the annual figures for the financial year 2024. The CEO already hints that the figures will be good, given the strong performance he claims.
