The Australian milk supply continues to be strong. Production in July was above last year’s levels, according to data from Dairy Australia. Dairies have been producing above last year’s levels all year. The Australian milk season is starting stronger in July. However, July’s milk supply remains below the average of recent years.
The milk supply in July was 579,44 million litres. The five-year average is 595,15 million litres. The milk supply of July this year is still below that.
Milk supply totaled 4.337,34 million litres to date. Last year, this was 4.174,5 million litres up to July. In 2022, this was 4.237,6 million litres. In 2021, milk supply up to July was significantly higher at 4.535,3 million litres, which also pushes the average up. If this year's milk supply continues at this level, it will break the annual downward trend.
So far, the 2024 milk supply has been better, partly due to improved seasonal weather. The new season for Australia starts in July, which means a relatively good start for Australia.
