The Dutch milk supply continues to decline, according to figures from RVO Nederland. In August, the supply not only fell below the five-year average for this month, but also below every August supply since the release of the quota in 2015.
In total, 1.106 million kilos of milk were supplied in August. This is 4% less than in August last year and also 3,9% below the average for August of the last ten years.
The fat content of the milk was even worse. In August, it was 4,6% lower than in August last year. Compared to July, the milk supply also dropped considerably. In comparison, 3,6% less milk was supplied. In terms of the fat supply, the damage was still somewhat limited, because the decrease was 3,4%.
Cumulatively, the decline in milk supply is less dramatic. Up to and including August this year, there has been 1,9% less milk than last year up to and including August. However, the fat supply is 2,15% lower, according to figures from RVO.
The protein content in the milk remains fairly stable throughout all of this.
