Milcobel has increased the milk price for September by several euros per 100 litres. This in response to the sharply increased dairy market prices and also following the initiative of A-ware. But according to Milcobel there is also pressure to increase the milk price due to tightness in the supply.
It is difficult to calculate the effect of this to buyers, the cooperative complains. "It is typical that there is always a delay in the calculation to the market." However, things are gradually improving. "The situation is now evolving favorably, with good negotiations for mozzarella and powder, among other things," according to Milcobel's comment. "What is taken from the market always goes to the members within the cooperative and therefore to the milk price."
The shortage of milk supply is partly caused by infections of dairy cattle with bluetongue, which is also spreading in Belgium.
The standard milk price is increased by €2,00 per 100 litres to €45,50 per 100 litres, the milk price at real contents and an annual delivery of 1,3 million litres increases by €2,12 to €49,52 per 100 litres, as can also be seen in the Boerenbusiness Belgian Milk Price Comparator. The maximum milk price to be received is €49,97 per 100 litres. This is also with maximum allowances.
In the coming weeks, Milcobel will hold member meetings. Among other things, the milk price system and the current premium system will be critically reviewed and adjusted where necessary.
