The DCA Indicative Price for silage maize is taking a step up this week and is rising slightly to €72,5 per tonne. According to traders, the end of the harvest is in sight. Some expect to chop the last maize this week, while others still have a bit more work to do. Despite the fact that some plots were sown late, the harvest is not too late this season. Maize from the old harvest that can be fed directly is also still available for the enthusiast. Prices do vary. The price range is roughly from €70 to €100 per tonne. With the maize harvest not yet completely finished, the cover products are still easily finding their way to the livestock farmers.

There is little trade in grass seed hay. The market image is that there is an occasional load for the enthusiast. Despite the fact that there is little grass seed available, there is also not much demand. The price is under some pressure. The DCA Indicative Price for grass seed hay therefore drops to €180 per ton.

What's in the barrel doesn't go sour
The DCA Indicative Price of wheat straw rises to €175 per tonne. The supply is and remains tight. Arable farmers who have straw in the barn are not letting it go according to traders. Straw is certainly still available, but sellers are taking the gamble that the price will rise later in the season. Barley straw remains stable at €170 per tonne. Barley straw is only requested by livestock farmers as feed straw and that market seems slightly less tight than wheat straw.

The DCA Indicative Price for brewers' grains remains stable at €3,45 per percent dry matter. Demand is good and supply is limited. We are heading towards winter, which according to an insider means the breweries are slowing down a bit.

Good grass year
The DCA Indicative Price for silage grass remains stable at €85 per tonne. Demand is weak, especially in the more extensive areas. Sufficient rain for practically the entire growing season has ensured that sufficient grass has grown last season. Buying additional product (because a cut was lost due to drought, as we have seen in recent years) is not an option now. It is the intensive companies that make the market. The DCA Indicative Price for meadow hay remains the same this week at €195 per tonne. The trade is said to be calm and to continue normally, according to the market.

The DCA Indicative Price for feed potatoes remains stable at €50 per ton. This trade is also unchanged, insiders report that there is little trading in it. Only very occasionally a load, for 'fifty bucks'.
